I just wrote this entire log and realised how long winded it was. I’m going to keep it concise this time. I found a game I mad a long time ago in high school and it will never be released anywhere for anyone. This is because it is so morally wrong and awful that it would be neglectful to spread the glorification of its gameplay.
To put what my now deleted log said in about two lines, I believe that morally ambiguous content/media are fascinating if handled properly and responsibly, regardless of the content.
There, I just summed up about 1,500 words into a single sentence! Now what is there to talk about? Well, I looked through the map list that I had and honestly, its not as bad as I thought it was. I originally thought I had hundreds and hundreds of map files… and I do! But a lot of them are multiple versions of the same map. Such as “de_geminus_v1, de_geminus_v2, de_geminus_v2_fixed” and the list goes on. So this will be more manageable than I thought. I will still need to get maps from my old old PC I reckon. That’s another point, there is likely a lot on that PC that I’ll need to properly archive. But one bit at a time.
One massive annoying thing is GOOGLE! For all my games I have been uploading the .exe files to Google Drive. This means it’s integrated into Google (as I’m using Google Sites) and I can just copy the link and put it in the button to download. But Google keeps fucking detecting viruses in my literal game files, like they are just Fusion 2.5 compiles?! Over 5 games have been flagged as a “virus” according to Google. I have requested them to review the files as there is quite literally nothing malicious on them. They aren’t even full screen only games, they’re in a window. Looking online, it seems that this is not only my issue. Seems that a lot of Fusion game .exe files are virus detected. I actually remember a few months ago I had a proper hassle trying to send my game to my girlfriend on discord. I had to encrypt a zip file and upload it through anonfiles or some shit. I’m sure I’ll figure out a way around it all.
Also, Psycho Patrol R merch is dropping! I love Villes games, they are so unhinged and have an awesome aesthetic that just tickles my fucking brain. I hope Chapter 2 drops soon as well. Currently PPR (Psycho Patrol R) only has one main quest to so, the SSL Panic. It’s a great quest line and there are a whole load of other side quests, but the game is underdeveloped, obviously. It’s in early access so this is expected. But there were a few moments where I really wished that a room was more fleshed out or that a mechanic was smoother. There are quite a lot of rooms with absolutely no purpose and some stuck zones too where you physically cannot escape. I remember playing the game a few weeks after it came out. Being a mech game, half of the gameplay is spent in an awesome mech that you can customize and everything (I never really bothered with mech games but this is awesome!). Originally, the aiming in the mech was beyond awful. It was slow, too smooth and it was getting me killed A LOT. This was one of the reasons I didn’t continue playing and eventually refunded the game. But now, not sure how long this change has been implemented, but now the aiming in the mech is instant and snappy which was a very welcome change. I’m not sure if it was a difficulty thing? Also, I play on the easiest difficulty, so maybe I was playing on a higher difficulty before which had this slow aiming? Not sure. I also hope for more utilisation of the stat system in the second chapter as currently the stats are never explained what they even do. I’m not even asking for a tutorial, I just want a small text box when I mouse over each stat that explains what it does.
Despite all of this, I still love the game. It has massive potential and I will be coming back to it for each new chapter. I still need to play more because I have unfinished side quests to complete.
