Now we have my final album before I went onto releasing my music through Spotify. This marks the end of an era for me. Up until this album, I was making music either just for myself or for certain people. After this album, I started holding my music to much higher standards that I would always be proud of.
At the time, I posted a lot of weirdcore picture that I made on Tumblr and I was very active within the weirdcore community. So, I made an album to commemorate the community.
This album, I don't have a whole lot to say about it really. It is a bunch of ambient style, lo-fi almost songs that are somewhat abstract. I do still like the sound of this album, though I think it could have been better.
The project did teach me a lot about an albums structure though. If you read the titles of the tracks you will see that you can kind of piece together a narrative. You have the intro where the character is bewildered that he is castaway by something. He starts seeing white shadows and falls into a void so dark he enters the afterlife. He then has to make a choice, once he makes his choice he wonders if he made the right one. And he did, and thus he lands back in reality.
So yeah, a bit abstract but the idea was certainly there. I adopted this into later projects. I'm not sure if the tracks on this were inspired by Silent Hill. I swear I only started listening and playing Silent Hill in 2023, though I might be wrong. The song "Wonder" is why I'm questioning it, because the use of a pad and the chord progression is very similar to "The Day Of Night" by Akira Yamaoka. Same goes for "Landing Back In Reality". I might have heard about Silent Hill and listened to the music to try and sleep which seems more apparent in that track.
It also taught me a lot about just ambient music making in general. Like using sound effects, long stretching droning sounds and just generally more experimental music. It is a really nice listen still, though I do obviously wish I did more to it though. Some of the pads feel just a tiny bit flat for my liking.
