You can very easily tell what game this was inspired by. Yep, that scary maze game that plastered Youtube back in the late 2000s. Thankfully, there is no scary face in this game and there's actually no sound effects whatsoever. I just wanted to design my own "scary" maze levels honestly.
The game does present quite a bit of a challenge though, as touching any wall anywhere will reset you back to the main menu screen. No save points in this! Although this is likely due to me not knowing how to implement a save system. The only save "system" I knew of at the time was to just reset the current room. Rooms being levels, it meant you'd just retry the levels if you died. But because the cursor is the player, and the cursors position can't be reset after dying, it would have been difficult to reset the room itself without looping the death over and over.
One user on YoYoGames commented something like "Seems like something scary might happen, better not play it." which hurt me a bit. I genuinely didn't add anything scary into it (you can view the project file if you wish). I think I commented trying to convince him that nothing scary happens, but if I remember correctly he commented again saying no. Understandable, it is the exact same colour scheme as that one scary maze video, and who was I to trust! But, again, like most of my games from this era, completing the last level throws up the gamemaker error message as there is no level 9.
