Today I "finished" the shop song some more. It was originally 15 minutes and I upped it to just under 20 minutes because I felt that the techo bit was a little too short. I also wanted more ambient pads in the song since a lot of it is just synth plucks and piano. I still need to master it a bit better, but for now it's alright. I also kept adding more to my album cover drawing, adding a background and a bunch of shading on the character. Honestly, I could keep going with the cover but I have to draw the line at some point.
I installed some LEDs into my car interior today. It was an actual nightmare trying to get it to stick to the fucking car. Because the majority of the dashboard uses this textured plastic, it meant that the underside of where the pedals are is also textured plastic. This material made it really difficult to stick things to it. Originally, I bought a long strip of LEDs. They were pretty good quality, but it didn't actually have any sticky side. It just came with screw on attachments for you to put it on a wall. So, I scrapped that idea and went back to Tesco to buy a 2 meter strip of sticky LED lights. These had a peel off adhesive so you could stick them to the surface. I tried this, and it absolutely did not stick whatsoever. Great.
So, I asked my sister for some glue dots which I KNOW are very sticky. Her and Kira used to use them all the time to stick things to the wall, so I thought it would be the perfect solution. Well, despite how fucking sticky they are, they did not stick at all either. So, I was mad. I drove straight back to Tesco and looked at their tape. I had three options, sellotape, black gorilla tape, or clear gorilla tape. I didn't wanna risk the regular sellotape as I felt it would just come right off. So, I went for the brutal option which was gorilla tape. The black one looked stronger? But I went with the clear gorilla tape since I'm using it for LEDs and it will let the light pass through. There was the "no going back" super glue option, which would have definitely held the lEDs in, but like I said there is literally no going back. The plastic interior would quite literally need repairing if I did that. I know it's an old car (from 2009) but I didn't wanna destroy it.
I'm pleased to say that the clear gorilla tape actually did stick and held the LEDs in place. And it looks great! It doesn't light up the whole interior, but it does nicely light up the pedals and I made it curve around the gearstick console area and into the passenger side. I did have to buy some small scissors, and I didn't have my ID when trying to buy them. Luckily, I explained to the guy that I just need it to cut the tape and it's for my car, and he let me buy them no worries. What a nice guy.
Also, before all of this, I met someone called "crazy man" which Kira refers to him as. He just talked to us out of nowhere, seemingly about his life and his struggles. He talked about how someone broke his handle or whatnot? And how he needed to get a new phone. Pretty pleasant dude, but yes he does yapper on a little.
