I spent a lot of this afternoon designing the cover for my new album which I am titling Criminal Underground. My sister always had a really cool artstyle with her characters, and I wanted something with an actual character on since I don't think I've ever drawn a character for an album cover? Well, I decided to on this one. I went with a very scene aesthetic and some frutiger metro vibes for the background. Also, if you're familiar with my legacy albums, this is a continuiation of the "illegal" theme. No, it's not a sequel to Illegal Melodies or Supremacy of Sound. Not directly, at least. But I have just today decided that I want it to reference them in some way. So, for the character I colour matched the red and blue as seen in Illegal Melodies and SoS. Also, I found this awesome font on DaFont which fits the dance mood this album is going for perfectly! It's called Neuropolitical by Typodermic Fonts and it's 100% free! A lot of fonts on DaFont are free for personal use, meaning you wouldn't be able to use it commercially. But this one is all free!
Here is the link to the font if you are interested: Neurotypical by Typodermic Fonts
Below I have shared a few of the iterations. It isn't finished yet, I still want to redo the background and stuff and also add more detail to the clothing. But the idea is there, it's just gonna be this character with headphones and the title of the album on the left middle. I spent just over 2 hours in IbisPaint on the iPad drawing the character. My sisters references helped a lot with the proportions, as well as a bunch of other references. You can see that the shoes clearly aren't finished!
I am not sure how many tracks this is going to have. I have four currently. Track 1 I am happy with for the most part. It is near finished and there isn't much to do aside from some mastering tinkering. Track 3 is also near finished, though this one needs a bit more mastering needs. Track 2 is just a concept, there isn't a proper structure yet. I made that melody while at Kiras house which makes me want to keep it. I definitely will, it's just that every time I open up the project I'm just not sure what to do. I feel I will need to drastically change some part of the song to get some momentum, because it's currently dead ends on what I should do. And track 4 I just am not sure. It sounds good? But it doesn't fit the album I don't think. It's way too epic sounding. This is meant to be a semi laid back underground dance album and this just has too much energy, almost like a trance song instead of regular dance house. I might try making a new track for the 5th track (or 4th if I don't use the current 4th track).
