I am ill again, unfortunately. I called in sick as I just feel terrible. I did manage to poke away at one of my songs today though in a bit to try and make myself feel a bit better. I think it is actually significantly improved as it now reaches the 3 minute mark. I try to get songs to 3 minutes because it is just the typical standard for song length due to attention span, not letting the song be too short and also not letting it overstay it's welcome. Give a listen below, I think it's a lot better.
I have a tendency to make very atmospheric tracks. I might try on my next track to make something that is a bit more tight, though since the rest of the tracks on here are also atmospheric it may not fit well with the overall theme of the album. But, then again, my main inspiration is Cult Member and that artist includes ambience so I might just keep it. This track is essentially finished now, despite it saying demo, I just kept the name for some reason. This means that I now have track 1, 3 and 5 essentially finished. They all just need a few touches here and there, maybe adjustments to the outro and some mixing tweaks, but that is it. Three down, and it only took me a month. Damn, it is gonna take me some time eh? Well, I have been thinking whether this should be a long album or not. For some reason, my latest albums have sat around the 10 track mark. CK and DOAU are both 11 tracks long, despite CK being nearly twice as long in length. Although CK was made over the course of about a year and DOAU was made in just two months or so. Although, again, DOAU did have a few filler shorter tracks (technically unfinished in length). Actually, 4 of the 11 songs dont even reach the 2 minute mark, and only 4 other songs go past 3 minutes. So far I have 3 songs that all breach the 3 minute mark.
The reason I'm yapping on about song length so much is because I tend to underdeliver my tracks. That comes down to two reasons:
First reason is that I get bored of making the song. I don't have the motivation to actually add more to the track.
The second reason may be that I feel the song is too repetitive in nature to justify hitting the 3 minute mark.
It is normally the latter, as I don't always make long patterns. I like shorter patterns that are memorable. Obviously, some tracks I do like to make longer patterns though.
