I didn't do much for the first few hours of being home, but I got to work on more PS3 stuff at around 9:50, just as Kira was going to sleep. So I decided to ramble on about some very technical crap so she could fall asleep while in Poland. She couldn't talk so she typed because she has family sleeping with her.
Anyway, I worked for two hours changing icons, making new images and having a stab at changing a sound file. I'm pleased to say that the new icons worked brilliantly! I changed the screen where you hold the PS button and access the battery, controller number and stuff like that. See below, I think it looks awesome:
Added custom numbers, boxes with cool lines through them, a whole battery icon list as well and a cool indicator as to which controller you have selected. Also, replaced the controller icon for a bloody glock, don't know why I just think it looks cooler. A distinct red theme across this whole PS3 I've noticed. The XMB waves are also red and my whole coldboot logo is red too. It is my favourite colour after all.
These all worked better than I expected. Even though you're not gonna be staring at these icons all day long, it's nice to have them customised instead of the default images.
I did this by decompiling the impose_plugin.rco file from the PS3 which seems to handle this controller menu.
I have a bunch more .rco files to peek inside but I will need to do this tomorrow as it's just hit 12 AM. I just decompiled impose_plugin.rco and found the raw PSN icon and PlayStation Plus icon so I can change those tomorrow. But for now, it is sleep time. I can fall asleep on call again! Still on call which is great, I love being able to fall asleep with her. Anyway, for another time.
